Welcome To Movement With Mar
Let me tell you a little bit about my background & why I decided to create this space!
I am currently a third-year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at Northwestern University in Chicago. I spent two years of my graduate studies in the classroom learning about the science of Physical Therapy, how to analyze and examine people’s movement, and how to treat and prevent injuries. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for undergrad, where I studied Kinesiology, aka the study of body movement. In April of 2019, I will officially have spent 7 years of my life studying movement and I am so excited to officially begin my career as a Physical Therapist! I can honestly say that every single day of this journey has been a blessing and I truly can’t imagine being anywhere other than where I am right now.
I created this space because I have a HUGE passion for movement and an immense need to share what I have learned with others. I see two different sides to movement. (Future) Physical Therapist Mar sees people in rehab, addressing issues that are causing pain and resolving these problems to help them move better. Current Pilates Instructor Mar sees people in group classes and private sessions who are injury free, highly active, and want to move their body and maintain their healthy lifestyle. I have a unique perspective of working with people on both the rehab and the prevention side of things. The reality is that every active body is eventually going to have aches and pains, and most of these aches and pains can be resolved and prevented with proper treatment, education, and prevention. I plan to combine my background in movement science and rehabilitation with my love of fitness and wellness to create a space to educate, learn, move & grow with you.
Let’s move better, together.
